Casablanca's Buying Spree: Are We Witnessing a Monopoly in the Making?
Okay, so another day, another acquisition. Groupe Holged, who the hell are they anyway? Apparently, they just snagged École La Prairie in Casablanca. Big deal, right? Except, wait a minute, this isn't their first rodeo.
Another One Bites the Dust
June 2023, they grab Al Massalik. May 2024, KENZI. Now this school. It's like watching Pac-Man gobble up all the dots, except the dots are private schools and Pac-Man is some faceless corporation nobody's ever heard of outside of…Casablanca, I guess. According to Groupe Holged acquires another Casablanca educational facility, this acquisition further solidifies their presence in the region.
And what's with the "expanding their footprint in the central districts of Casablanca" line? Sounds like something out of a real estate brochure. Are we talking about educating kids or gentrifying neighborhoods here? I'm genuinely asking.
Asafo & Co. gets a shoutout for advising on the deal. Good for them, I guess. They also apparently helped with the Africa 50 thing back in 2022. So, they're basically Holged's enablers. Lawyers, am I right?
It's just… I dunno. Maybe I'm being paranoid. But when one company starts buying up everything in sight, especially when it comes to something as important as education, alarm bells start ringing. Is this about providing better education, or just about controlling the market? And more importantly, what happens to the kids and teachers when everything is run by the same people pushing some unified corporate vision?

The Market Giveth, the Market Taketh Away
Speaking of markets, apparently the Casablanca Stock Exchange had a rough day. The MASI took a nosedive, down 0.71%. Not great, Bob! Risma climbed, though, so someone's happy. And Minière Touissit suffered the steepest drop, plunging 9.99%. Ouch. Details of the day's trading can be found in Casablanca Stock Exchange Ends Week in the Red as MASI Declines.
What does any of this have to do with Holged? Probably nothing. Just venting. My 401k is probably doing even worse, but, you know, gotta pay for wifi to write this garbage somehow.
Seriously though, this whole situation makes you wonder about the bigger picture. Is Morocco's economy heading for a boom or a bust? Is this Holged thing a sign of healthy growth or a predatory takeover? Will the stock market ever stop being a casino? I mean, c'mon.
Oh, and Asafo & Co launched a TMT practice. Because that's what the world really needs: more lawyers specializing in tech, media, and telecoms. Aïssatou Sylla is the new partner. Good for her. Hope she's ready for the soul-crushing reality of corporate law.
Robot Apocalypse?
And what's with that random "Are you a robot?" article? That's just…weird. Did someone try to hack into something? Is this all some elaborate conspiracy? Probably not. But you never know these days. Bots are getting smarter, and it's only a matter of time before they take over. They expect us to believe this nonsense, and honestly...
I swear, sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who sees the cracks in the system. Everyone else is just happily marching along, oblivious to the impending doom. Maybe I need a vacation. Or a therapist. Or both.
So, What's the Real Story?
Look, I'm not saying Holged is evil. Maybe they have the best intentions. Maybe they really do want to improve education in Casablanca. But forgive me if I'm a little skeptical. This whole thing just smells fishy. And until I see some real transparency and accountability, I'm going to keep asking questions. Because that's what I do.
